A changing world of news
I log on to BBC News this morning and the headline news article is “Five Chilean miners ‘depressed'”. The story goes on to tell how a group of miners who have been stuck in a collapsed mineshaft are suffering depressing.
Is that really a surprise and worthy of the headline ? I think it shows how our media has moved away from a focus of real events to secondary (albeit important) by-products. 10 years ago the headline would be something like “Chilean miners stuck in liftshaft”.
Still, it did serve the purpose I suppose of catching my attention and gaining another reader for the article !
